International Commando Heritage Centre
During and after WW2, Commandos of every generation returning from operations, depsoited 'items of interest' at the Spean Bridge Hotel. A small but cherished 'Commando Display Room' was established by the Fergusson and later the Short families.
In 2014, new owners threatened to dispose of these priceless and in some case historical artefacts, thereby destroying much of the original commando heritage.
A joint team of members from Commando Association and Royal Marines Association, rescued the collection and, after a short stay at Achnacarry Castle, these have now been removed to safe keeping in the city of Inverness.
The Mission of the International Commando Heritage Trust is to return these artefacts to the public domain in order to preserve that heritage and tell the history off the Commandos and Speacial Forces of the UK & Allied Nations.
It is intended to provide facility close to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.
A place of reflection and pride.
A place of education
To foster patriotism, pride and fellowship.
To tell their story.
Today, all UK & Allied Nations Commandos, Paratroopers and Special Forces can trace their antecedents to the original commandos of WW2.
To Protect the Heritage and Inform the Future
If you are a serving or former member of this elite warrior class, or you are a family member or friend, YOU can help make this concept a reality!
Your support will ensure that the generations to come know who they followed and the price they paid throughout the decades.
PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION TO SUPOPORT THE DEVELOPOMENT OF THIS CAUSE.

To the Commando fellowship and the local communities, the visual impact of the 'Three Men on the Hill' is simply untouchable! The view from the Commando Memorial over the original training ground of the Nevis Range is sacrosanct and must never be obstructed.

Asthetics
Any proposed 'facility' near to the Commando Memorial MUST embrace the environment and be discreetly embraced by the surroundings. Ideally a Heritage Centre close to this location should reflect the 'modus operandi of the commandos and become virtually invisible

Sympathetic to the Environment
The concept proposed by the ICHT team and developed by friendly designers in Scotland, is for a semi-subterrannean faciltiy the upper roof level remaining below the platform of the Commando Memorial. It would be unseen from road approaches and utilise latest techniques to minimise any impact on the environment.
