14 JAN 26 - Members of the ICHT team attended the Commando Traiing Centre Belge at Marches-Les-Dames, by kind invitation of the Commandant, LtCol Nicolas SIX. Having enjoyed a tour of the Headquarters and Chapel, the team could not help but recognise the WW2 spirit of the original Commando Basic Training Centre at Achnacarry. The Assault Course, integrated as it is with the main building, adjacent water features and cliffs, invoke an atmosphere of special operations training at every turn.
After a guided visit to the Commando Museum, ICHT were guests at the 'Beret Ceremony' where successful trainees are presented with their red or green berets, appropriate to their receiving units. Parachute batallions in the north and commando units in the south. Families and CTC Staff attended a emotional parade that exuded the commando atmosphere and was followed by a short social gathering for all within the castle.
