During WW2 and throughout the post-war years, commandos of all generations returning from operations, established the tradition of depositing 'memorabilia' at the Spean Bridge Hotel. In 2014, new owners of the establishment threatened the entire loss of what had become a 'commando museum', including many priceless and irreplaceable historical artefacts. A full one day programme commenced at 1030 hours on Saturday 21st June 2025, when political, diplomatic and military representatives from UK and various Allied Nations gathered at the Commando Memorial, Spean Bridge.
